We are the Cure!

This morning I woke up a little earlier than I would have liked, but all for a very good cause! Within the last 6 months three people in my life have been diagnosed with breast cancer, so I decided I need to support the cause. Plus I never know if this disease will someday affect me or even my daughter!
None the less a good reason to get together with some good friends and get a little exercise in! We arrived early and got to check out all the free stuff they were giving away. Always fun because EVERYTHING is pink! That is where we got our sweet scarves! Thanks Ford!

We finally finished at about 1 hour 7 minutes, but by the time we waited for our turn to take a picture in front of the clock we added another 3 minutes. We had a fun time and we are already talking about next year!!

Another NEW Camera

So...anybody that knows me, knows that I replace my camera just about as often as I replace my underwear!! My camera was stolen from in front of my house a couple of weeks ago and after many tears (mostly from lost pictures), I can say I am over it! Chris being the great husband that he is came home with not just a new camera, but a pink one! I haven't really taken too many pictures, but today we put it to the test. And yes indeed it does take underwater pictures!! I was thinking I was going to have to go get some of those disposable underwater cameras for this summer, but this is way better!! This is totally awesome to me!!

Most of you know that last weekend I had the opportunity to attend the Pioneer Trek for the youth. I volunteered to go, but as the day got closer and closer, I really wanted to back out. On Friday it actually took every part of me not to call and cancel. I was having a bad day, to say the least and couldn't even do the dishes without crying. But this weekend turned out to be exactly what I needed to boost my spirits and get a new outlook on my life!
We had a great time walking 12 miles through the desert wearing our skirts, aprons and bonnets. It was exactly what I needed. An opportunity for me to realize how blessed I am. There is obviously a reason that Heavenly Father didn't send me to this earth in the 1800's, probably because I never would have made it, but that is okay!
My favorite part was on Saturday, after we woke up and had breakfast, the Mormon Battalion came to recruit all the young men leaving the girls behind. We heard some facts and stories about what the lives were like of the pioneer women who were left to fend for their selves and make the journey to the Salt Lake Valley alone. We then were asked to kneel in the dirt and offer up the most sincere desires of our hearts. I was immediately overwhelmed with the spirit and had a new appreciation for my pioneer heritage. We then began pulling our handcarts without any help from the young men. I was pulling with one of the girls from my ward, and just as we were saying , "this isn't so bad", they said turn here. Turn where? The trail goes straight! We then pulled our handcarts over bushes up and through trenches. I was so out of breath that it hurt, all the while the young women was saying, "Come on Sister Lichty, you can do it!". And at that moment I realized the strength of our youth. Not just their physical strength, but their spiritual strength. To keep going when things aren't easy.
It completely wore me out, but I am so glad I went. I got a great workout, got to spend some time with some great women, bond with our young women, and my sisters being there was the bonus!!

Photopass

I am not exactly sure when Disney came up with this, but it is the best thing ever!!

Our family was walking in front of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, all wearing our very stylish Mickey ears when one of the photographers at Disneyland attacked us! He told us that we won his photo of the day award and explained to us the photo pass. It is just a card with a bar code on the back and you can give it to any photographer at the two parks and they snap some pictures for you and give it back. You then can buy pictures there or when you get home online. And they aren't just any pictures, they are awesome. For example I have never had a good picture in front of the castle where you can actually see the people's faces and the entire castle, but the picture is so good it kind of looks like the castle behind us is fake. Another bonus is they get all other people out of the picture for you! So if anybody was wondering why I haven't posted any Disney pictures yet it is because I have to wait to get my CD with all my awesome pictures on it!!

We're back! We took our first family vacation with just our little family; no other family, no friends. Just us. It was so nice! We went to Huntington beach for 2 days and went to Disneyland and California Adventure for the other 2 days. Not so long, but a VERY nice break. I know the kids enjoyed themselves, and it was nice to see them so happy!

Chloe's Family

While we were watching conference this morning the kids were coloring in the conference packet that some friends e-mailed me. One of the pages had a place to draw your family. AfterI saw Janeen's blog yesterday I was very eager to see how Chloe would draw our family, so I gave that page to her. I didn't get "boobies" like Janeen, but I was very impressed. Thanks for the great idea!!
