Again!

Chloe got to celebrate her birthday at school yesterday. She brought cupcakes for snack time and passed out goody bags to all her friends.
Alex and Cooper got to spend the afternoon at school with Chloe. That meant a full day at school for Alex, but Cooper was so excited to be there. Especially since they got to eat cupcakes too.Chloe got to take her birthday bag off the wall and sit with Ms. Bonnie to see what treasures she got.

Memorial Day

We did something a little unusual for us, we woke up early on a holiday and headed to the park for a game of baseball. With just my family we almost had enough for two teams, so a couple of friends came and joined us. It was Jeremy, Juli, Ben, Jenny, Ashton, Jordan, and Amber against me, Nick, Josh, Amber, my dad, Katie, and Matt. (In a couple more years all the kids will be old enough to play too and we will have full teams!) Not that the score really matters, but I think my team got beat! I let the kids go play at the park before we headed off to lunch with Chris who had to work all morning. And then we spent the rest of the day swimming and BBQing at my mom's house. Fun times!!

Chloe's Birthday

Chloe started her birthday off with blueberry waffles and whip cream. We then got ready for church and she brought Hello Kitty cupcakes to share with her primary class. She was very excited about that!

After church we headed to my parents' for a joint birthday for Chloe and my dad. His birthday was yesterday, and he was out of town, so they got to celebrate together this year. As usual Chloe totally made out. Her favorite was her new sit'n'stand stroller and car seat. It even has a base to buckle into the car!
I am glad she got to celebrate her birthday with grandpa! It was extra special that he turned 50 when she turned 5! They had yummy bundt cakes and enjoyed licking all the frosting of their candles! Happy Birthday Dad and Chloe!!

Happy 5th Birthday Chloe!

My Chloe girl,
As I was looking for pictures for this post I got a little teary eyed as I realized how big you are getting. I miss all the cute things you used to say and do. There is one thing for sure, you have always been able to bring a smile to my face. You started out so tiny and now you have grown into a beautiful little girl. You are so independent. You are still the little mama, taking care of your baby and anyone else who will let you. I can't believe you will be starting kindergarten in the fall, but at the same time, I can't wait to see you grow and learn. You are beautiful inside and out and I can't wait to see what the future holds for you. I love you forever and ever!!
My tiny little girl!

And of course you and your baby!

Happy Birthday sweet girl!!!

Party Time!

This year Chloe got to have her very first friends birthday party. She wanted a pool party, but after much prodding from mom, she settled on a water party in our backyard. They had a huge water slide to go down and a Hello Kitty water sprinkler to run through. It was very chaotic, but I think all the girls had fun! One of her requests was to have NO BOYS! I wasn't going to give into that request, but after some thought, it is true, the boys would have made the girls whine the entire time (at least Nick would have made Chloe!). So she got what she wanted, a girls only party. They had pizza and watermelon and Hello Kitty cupcakes with pink ice cream. Chloe got tons of presents and had a fun time with her friends. Here is to another year! We love you Chloe!!

Yet Again!!

I think this one has the best story yet... We were walking out of the store and Alex asks Nick if they could hold hands, and Nick being a good big brother grabs his hand and they both take off running. They cross the parking lot and Nick lets go of Alex's hand to go around the pole (BIG concrete barrier for the light) and Alex, not watching where he is going, goes full force, straight into the pole. His head had a HUGE goose egg within seconds. I know this one is definitely going to leave a scar. And he still has a smile on his face!!
(This picture was taken the next morning. And it definitely looks way worse in person!)

"Baseball TEEEEM"

Hats, balls, gloves, bats, Cooper calls all of them "baseball teeeem". This spring Ben has been playing baseball, so we have gone to some of the games and ever since all of the boys have been obsessed with playing baseball. They are constantly asking me to go out in the backyard and play with them, so this is what Chris found when he came home from work the other day. For most of the time Cooper had the glove and went after the ball whenever anybody hit the ball.

Nick and I took turns pitching for each other. When I was up I got a home run!! We did have to go retrieve the ball from the neighbor's house. Nick hasn't wanted to do any team sports since soccer a couple years ago. Now he really wants to do baseball with Ben this fall, so we will see. He already does so well, and I know that he would do awesome on a team!
I was trying to teach Alex to stand correctly to hit the ball. Not that I really know how, but I do know that he wasn't! A couple more years and he can do t-ball. Alot of fun times at the ball field for us!!
Chloe has decided that she wants to do t-ball this fall with Hailey. They want Juli to be their coach, so that should be fun. They will be such cute little ball players!!

Baby Blessing

After our sacrament meeting, where Chris was sustained as the new Teacher Advisor, we headed to his mom's ward where he blessed his little niece.
I know he was nervous giving her a blessing, trying to pronounce her Hawaiian middle name, but also because he knows that this sweet little baby most likely won't grow up in the church. Chris did a great job and I think that his mom is happy now that all her grandchildren have been blessed in the church.

Considering we had two sacrament meetings right in a row the kids did really well. I only had to take Cooper out once! The rest of the time I held the baby, fed her, and rocked her to sleep. I think Chris is a bit baby hungry himself, he asked to hold her first, and then he could sense that I was and handed her off to me for the rest of the hour!

Our Worker

Chris was outside cutting up some old units. When Alex saw him outside he immediately ran upstairs to grab his sawzall so he could "help dad". I am amazed at how interested he has always been in working and tools, and really how much he already knows.
Chris is the "worker" in his family. He knows how to work and works hard. Alex looks like Chris, acts like Chris, and I think he is going to be a worker just like Chris.
Like father, like son.

Father and Son Weekend

Last night the boys headed of for the annual Father and Son Camp out. This year even Cooper got to go! The stayed out long enough to eat dinner, sleep all together in the car, and have breakfast before they had to hurry back and ruin the girl's plans! I sent Chris with my camera and told him that he had to have at least one picture of them all together, and since they had the camera I didn't get any of our girl's night. As soon as the boys took off, we packed our bags and went to pick up P.F. Changs for dinner and Cheesecake Factory for dessert and headed over to my mom's (it was their wards Father/Son too). We ate until we couldn't eat anymore and then enjoyed a movie together. I think only my mom and Amber made it all the way through, Jenny, Katie, Chloe, Hailey and I were party poopers! We had planned to go out the next morning because Chloe had her heart set on IHOP, but Chris got called into work and our plans were ruined. She settled for Einstein's and we spent the rest of the day in the pool while dad was hard at work. We love you!!

My Girl

Mine
This morning Chloe and I started making her birthday invitations. More me than her, but we were having a good time. She was writing all her guest's names on the envelopes while I cut and glued. We were only part way done when we had to push it aside to go get Alex. I knew we had a busy afternoon, so I figured we would finish them tomorrow morning. So after I pick the kids up from school I set the three older ones at the table with homework to do. Nick knows what to do and Chloe and Alex's is just coloring so I go upstairs to get ready. When I come down I find that Chloe has gotten scissors out and finished her invitations by herself. I was furious! At first I couldn't even yell at her. And then I let her have it. I slowly got over it and we finished adressing her envelopes...
Then after the kids were already in bed. I pull out the invitations to show Chris. He asks if Chloe really did it all by herself, I responded "YES, and I was pissed!!". Chris had to point out that this was something that I would have done when I was little. So after a huge guilt trip I had to go wake my sleeping girl and tell her that I was proud of her and that she did do a great job.
Really the straight edges don't matter. I have to try and let the perfectionist part of me go and let the proud mom come out a little more. I am in tears thinking of how I crushed her spirits today. Chloe is such a sweet little mama. I am so thankful that she can forgive my shortcomings, even when they do happen so often. I love that girl so much and glad she is mine!

Happy "Mutter's" Day

This Mother's Day was just perfect! Chris woke up and made me a yummy breakfast and the kids gave me all the presents they had done at school. Alex and Chloe gave me framed pictures of themselves that their teacher had taken and Alex told me "Happy Mutter's Day!". It was so sweet, I know they had rehearsed it lots at school. Nick gave me a tile with a little poem on it.
Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls
But every day I'm growing --I'll be grown some day
And all those tiny hand prints
Will surely fade away
So here's a little hand print
Just so you can recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small

And right after I got my tile with the cute poem I noticed a full, dirty hand print on the wall going up the stairs. So I left it there a little longer because I know I will miss those someday!

Chris got me a spa package which I am very excited to use! And we enjoyed a nice dinner at my mom and dad's.

Most days there is yelling, tears, fighting, and utter madness, but I wouldn't trade any of it to not be a mother. I am so thankful that my Heavenly Father has blessed me with four sweet spirits.

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom .

For ME

I can't believe that May is here. It is hot outside and soon school will be out. What ever happened to March and April? They seem to have flown by in a blur. Although I wasn't myself, my children still loved me. We did fun stuff on our good days and tried to forget about the days before. Hopefully there were enough happy memories that will erase the bad ones.At the beginning of March . We grabbed lunch and went and hung out at the park all afternoon. Without me even asking Nick, Chloe and Alex started posing on the rocks for me. Cooper on the other hand, is a different story. He won't even look at the camera. Chloe started dance at the beginning of March. She had been asking for months, but I wanted to make sure she really wanted to do it first. She is a lot like me when I was little. She enjoys doing different activities, but doesn't want to be tied down to something that takes away time from her baby! In the last two months I have only had to fight her once. I decided that I really don't want her to be like me in that aspect. She will regret it later, so we are doing dance!! While she is there she has a great time and she has already improved so much. Just another day at the park! The kids love to go to the park at Town Square.

And of course we celebrated St. Patrick's Day! I love holidays that we can all get dressed up for. Chloe had dance that morning and really wanted to wear a green bow so that she didn't get pinched. I helped in Nick's class that afternoon and then we went home for green enchiladas for dinner. We all had green place settings and all our food was green. I love to make the little holidays special for my kids. I even bought Chris a green shirt (we are trying to incorporate a little color!) and he wore it! We didn't get a family picture because after dinner it seems that one by one all the kids began to have nervous break downs, so off to bed, but a fun green day pretending we are Irish! Chloe and Alex finished off zoo week at school with Zebra Day. Chloe always wants me to volunteer in her class since I go every week to Nick's so I decided that this was a great oppportunity. I found myself a zebra shirt and zebra bracelts so I could be an official part of the group. Chloe also wanted to bring cookies really bad for St. Patrick's day, but her teacher requested healthy green snacks, so we traded in the shamrock for zebra cookies.
Since Chloe and Alex were both bringing zebra cookies for their classes Nick wanted to bring some too. After I got about half of them cut out, I asked him if we could please do a differnt shape. The zebra's legs were so skinny they kept breaking off and I was pretty frustrated. So we settled on hands, since his class was working on the 5 senses that week. He was pretty happy with that and chose to make them yellow.
I am so thankful that my children are so forgiving of my shortcomings. All they want is to please me, and always love me even when I don't deserve their love.

Stake Track Meet

This morning our stake sponsored a 5k and a track meet. Each ward was a different color. Desert View was green. We started off with the 5k. Chris had his dad come watch the kids because they were still sleeping, and he had been practicing so he wanted to run it. I on the other hand partly wanted the kids there to be my excuse and the other part of me thought I could run it no problem. I am not exactly sure why I thought this. I haven't ran more than a couple of minutes in the last 4 months. Chris started off next to me, but ditched me after a couple of minutes because I was slowing him down. He finished in about 26 minutes (I think!) and I mostly walked and finished in about 37 minutes. The whole time I was thinking that I need to get back into shape, I really can't handle Chris beating me. Running was probably one of the few things that I was better at than him, and I need it to be that way again!
After the run, we had a real track meet. Chris was in the 4x200 relay. He did super good! I had no idea that he could move that fast. Chris had some other good runners with him and our ward won that relay. I think he surprised more than just me. Nick did a race with all the 5 and 6 year olds. They did a full lap around the track and he came in fourth place. He was so proud of himself. Alex did a 100m race with the 3 year olds and came in 5th. He was in total lala land and had no idea what he was doing, we just kept yelling "RUN Alex!". Chloe opted to not run. She was wearing flip flops and most likely would have taken a nice spill. And I was in the last relay of the day, a 8x100. Luckily I only had to run half of what Chris did because I never would have never made it.
Hopefully we will get to do this again...and I plan on being in better shape next time!

Field Day

Today was Nick's field day at school. He was really nervous. I guess I made him that way. I loves to be first and was very concerned that some of the other kids might beat him. But to my surprise kindergarten field day wasn't anything like I remembered of my field days long ago when I was in elementary school. There was one like race, running against each other, of course nobody kept track of who won, but the rest of the events everybody just got a turn, no winners just having fun.

My niece, Hailey and Nick are in the same class, so Juli and I held down the bean bag toss all afternoon. Luckily we got to stay in the shade because Will was there. Hot day! The kids had a great time and got to end their day with popsicles.
